The viral TIkTok reaction sparks debate on parasocial relationships.
A fan’s emotional breakdown over Jeo Ong’s entry into “Pinoy Big Brother: Collab 3.0” has sparked online discussions about parasocial relationships, after the fan expressed distress over the possibility of the content creator being paired with a love team.
In an Oct. 25 TikTok video, the fan is seen sitting on the floor and crying over Jeo’s decision to enter the reality show. The fan’s family members appear confused and question why the fan is breaking down, as the fan explains the reason behind the reaction.

“Magkaka-love team siya,” the fan says. “Kaya naman niya sa Ong Fam, bakit mag-PBB pa siya,” referring to their popular vlogging family comprising father Geo Ong, mother Janice Ong, Jeo’s siblings Domeng, Jadon, and Astrid, and Janice’s brother Joshua.
The video drew mixed reactions from netizens, some of whom described the behavior as creepy and obsessive.
“I feel scared sa part ni Jeo imagine if he’ll have a partner in the future what would this type of people do? Nakakatakot,” one commenter wrote.
Another commenter called the reaction “real-life Obsession,” referencing the 2025 supernatural horror film about a woman who becomes intensely attached to her friend after a wish goes wrong.
The incident has brought attention to parasocial relationships, defined as the one-sided emotional connections that people develop with media figures, including celebrities, influencers, and content creators.
Research suggests that parasocial relationships have positive and negative effects. On one hand, they may help people feel connected to others, find a sense of community, or explore their identities. On the other hand, they may prompt audiences to compare themselves with public figures or become excessively invested in their lives.
In fan culture, this attachment may become a concern when admiration develops into possessiveness, or when fans feel entitled to influence a public figure’s romantic relationships and career decisions.
Jeo is among the 16 housemates introduced in the latest season of PBB, which premiered on Oct. 24.
The latest season brings together Kapuso and Kapamilya personalities, including Winwyn Marquez, Mikee Quintos, Anthony Constantino, Raheel Bhyria, Cianne Dominguez, Robbie Jaworski, and former UNIS member Gehlee Dangca. Other housemates include Bela Arcal, Primo Alterado, Shea Valerio, Nicole Fortuna, Ethan Benares, Calix Esguerra, Nathan Garcia, and Lans Nagal.
The third “Collab” edition follows the previous seasons—then dubbed “Celebrity Collab”—whose Big Winner duos were Brent Manalo and Mika Salamanca, and Caprice Cayetano and Lella Ford.
The latest season also introduced a new Bahay ni Kuya at the Gina Lopez Building along Mother Ignacia Avenue in Quezon City.
