JuanFlix to screen climate-focused Filipino short films for free

Free climate films on JuanFlix! 🎬

The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in partnership with the Oscar M. Lopez Center, is bringing a special lineup of climate-themed short films to audiences nationwide through the streaming platform JuanFlix.

Titled “Mga Kwento ng Klima (MKK) Shorts,” the collection will be available for free streaming from April 22 to May 31, 2026, offering viewers a selection of films that explore how Filipinos experience the realities of climate change in their communities.

The program features eight short films from filmmakers across the Philippines, each presenting perspectives on environmental change, resilience, and everyday life shaped by shifting climates.

The lineup includes:

• Daniel De La Cruz’s “Ang Gadya Sang Suba”
• Aveguel Sinangote’s “Handom Sa Natugbong Nga Yuta”
• Penzer Baterna’s “Kahit Aswang Nahihirapan” 
• Norhamid S. Amairomag’s “Kapangopra Sa Ing’d”
• Vero Osicos’ “Pnigeke Apo To Parelthon”
• Aaron Christian B. Ortiz’s “Pamanahon”
• Aveguel Sinangote and Giomer Gulferic’s “Prince of Tides”
• Dexter Paul De Jesus and Drexler Jaramel’s “Quick Questions with the Queen”

Through stories rooted in local contexts such as coastal communities and rural landscapes, the films highlight the human dimension of the climate crisis and place environmental issues within personal and community narratives.

Audiences can watch the “Mga Kwento ng Klima Shorts” for free under the Special Features section of JuanFlix. The platform is available on the Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and through the JuanFlix website. The initiative continues efforts to use cinema as a tool for climate awareness while amplifying Filipino stories about environmental realities.
