KD Estrada shares why he and Alexa Ilacad have taken a break from their tandem, the projects keeping him busy, and his thoughts on handling social media misunderstandings.
Actor KD Estrada is embracing a new chapter in his career, taking a pause from his well-loved on-screen tandem with Alexa Ilacad to focus on personal growth and diverse projects.
Speaking candidly at the StarMagic Spotlight event, KD explained that both he and Alexa are exploring their individual paths as performers.
KD Estrada on professional growth and current status with Alexa Ilacad
“Sadyang time has changed lang talaga and other things coming our way. I’m hoping this year maka work ko siya ulit. But, I am okay working with myself and she can do her own thing. What’s important naman is kaming dalawa, we’re like super okay and super close kami,” he shared.
While KD is captivating audiences on stage in the musical “Bagets The Musical,” Alexa continues to impress on ABS-CBN’s “Your Face Sounds Familiar.” For KD, the temporary separation from the tandem is a natural part of their professional journeys. “Life happens, and work happens,” he said.
KD also addressed a recent social media misunderstanding involving a livestream of a rehearsal in “Bagets.” A screenshot of him with co-star Mia Bella sparked unwarranted rumors.
The actor addresses social media rumors and the impact of fake news
“The thing is, she is my castmate and the story there is nag livestream siya habang nasa rehearsals kami and tinutok niya lang sakin ang camera kasi magkakasama kaming lahat and na screenshot ‘yong moment and I just answered the person who took that into offense. She just took and point the camera there to me so what’s the issue there?”
He emphasized the danger of jumping to conclusions online: “And with that single screenshot, gagawa na ang ibang tao ng kani-kanilang narratives with a five-page story, and they will make an essay on why I am a bad person. For me, before you speak, isip muna.”
Expressing his frustration with fake news and social media exaggerations, he added: “For me, as an artist, you’re creating something that’s basically from nothing. ‘Ano ka, Diyos?’
“You’re making stories about people you barely know. You don’t know their lives, and when you see something that doesn’t favor you, you create something just to make fuzz on the Internet. For me, I just want to shut that person up,” he added.
Despite the challenges, KD remains grounded, focused on his craft, and optimistic about future collaborations with Alexa.
