Veteran host reflects on shift from confrontations to feel-good stories, credits ABS-CBN training for her growth.

Since TV5 reformatted its long-running tabloid talk show “Face to Face with Ate Koring,” host Korina Sanchez-Roxas said she has felt a sense of relief, even noting there is now less scowl on her face.

“It’s a happy change. Although I was happy to have helped people, nabawasan na ang abono ko, pati kunot ng noo. Ngayon nakangiti ka from beginning to end. Wala ka nang iniiwasan. We now highlight bibo kids. I’m very happy that the transition was very smooth. Lahat nakangiti sa staff namin,” she said during TV5’s midyear media and trade celebration on Thursday.

For Sanchez, the shift marks a significant change in how she engages with guests. Once known for handling heated confrontations, she now takes on a more supportive role, drawing from decades of experience to offer guidance and practical advice.

“I am very proud to have been honed by ABS-CBN. Because kung ako ang natatalakan dati, ngayon ako na ang tumatalak ngayon. I’m very happy to share my experience with other people,” she said.

The veteran broadcaster said the new approach allows her to connect with people in a more positive and solutions-driven way, while easing the emotional strain that came with moderating intense disputes.

“Face to Face with Ate Koring” now focuses on everyday concerns, from family and parenting issues to livelihood opportunities, reflecting Sanchez’s shift toward a more empathetic, advisory role. The program airs weekdays from 11 AM to 12 PM on TV5.
