Tony Award-winning actress Lea Salonga opened up about the true meaning of bravery and credited her mother Ligaya as the ultimate hero behind their music career.
A video of Lea from a fan-run account resurfaced, just in time for Mother’s Day, where the legendary artist shared how her mother refused to take “no” for an answer, personally investing her own money to record and print physical copies of her single.
Ligaya’s unwavering faith paid off when the copies completely sold out, vindicating her belief in her child’s talent.
“For me, to be brave, to be courageous, is recognizing that there is fear, but knowing in your heart of hearts this is the right thing to do,” Lea expressed.
As a mother herself, she playfully admitted that all Filipino moms drive their kids crazy at some point, yet the artist broke down in tears while expressing their immense gratitude.
Lea emphasized that her mother’s steadfast support and belief in her made it possible for her voice to be heard today, ending the heartfelt message with a simple, tearful “thank you… for everything.”
