Drag persona is 2019 winner of rival show’s contest.
Lola Move, the “Miss Q and A: Reyna Talak-Era” winner in the July 13 episode of “It’s Showtime!,” is actually a former host of rival noontime show “Eat Bulaga!” and the grand winner of the program’s reality talent search “BakClash” in 2019.
Lola Move is Echo Calingal’s caricature of a Filipino grandmother, who quickly caught the audience’s attention with sharp wit, pop culture references, and a mid-performance Korean spoof.
Calingal secured the daily crown after answering the question, “Kikiligin ka ba sa halik ni Hudas?” He concluded with a memorable line: “Pwede tayong magpatawad, pero wag tayong makalimot.”
Also during the July 13 episode, Vice Ganda noted Calingal’s resemblance to comedian-talent manager Ogie Diaz, prompting a skit that played off one of the funniest drills from Diaz’s acting workshop.
Lola Move resonated beyond the stage, with audiences taking to social media to share their praise. “Full package si Lola Move oh… I LUV HER,” one user said.
Others watching live also expressed support: “Jusko naman. Sana naman makapasok si Lola Move sa next round,” while another added, “Galingan mo ang paghampas at sa pagsagot.”
Some users online did not immediately recognize Calingal on stage: “Si Lola Move, akala ko si Echo yung nanalo sa ‘BakClash’ sa ‘Eat Bulaga!’”
Calingal, a native of Tondo, first rose to fame as the grand winner of “BakClash,” a singing competition on “Eat Bulaga!,” in March 2019. Three months later, he earned his first credit as one of the show’s hosts.
After his hosting stint, he continued working as a comedian in clubs, particularly at VICE Comedy Club. He has also maintained an online presence, briefly resurfacing in January 2026 after an interview on “Think Talk Tea” with Kring Kim, where he recounted his experiences as an “Eat Bulaga!” host.
Calingal’s “Lola Move” draws on his years of contest and comedy experience, delivering sharp, witty performances that keep each show unpredictable. His style reflects the long-standing kontesera culture in the Philippines, where seasoned performers thrive on surprise, audience connection, and quick-thinking humor.
