Iconic music rankings vanish from MYX platforms, sparking nostalgia and questions over future of once-influential OPM charts.
After more than two decades of tracking the country’s biggest hits, MYX’s music charts appear to have quietly come to an end.
Fans recently noticed that the channel’s signature charts are no longer listed on the MYX website, while its countdown programs have also disappeared from MYX Global’s programming schedule. The changes have fueled speculation that the long-running rankings have been discontinued.
The apparent removal prompted nostalgic reactions from longtime viewers, with many calling it the “end of an era.”
Others reflected on MYX’s influence before digital streaming charts became dominant, noting that it was once considered one of the country’s most authoritative music rankings.
“Before Billboard’s entry, MYX Charts were the authoritative music charts for the Philippines. It reflected how people actually voted for their favorite music videos,” one fan wrote online.
Launched in 2002, the MYX charts became one of the country’s most recognizable music rankings, showcasing the popularity of both Original Pilipino Music (OPM) and international releases. Managed by ABS-CBN’s Creative Programs, the charts ranked songs based on viewer votes and streaming trends across the MYX Global network.
Among its staple countdowns were the MYX Hit Chart, which featured local and international songs; the Pinoy MYX Countdown, dedicated to Filipino artists and P-pop acts; the MYX International Top 20 (MIT20) for global hits; and the MYX Daily Top 10, which reflected daily fan votes and music video rotations.
As of writing, MYX has yet to issue a statement on the status of its music charts.
