Papa Dudut steps into ‘Wish Ko Lang’s’ former time slot with ‘Barangay Love Stories’

“Fan po ako ng ‘Wish Ko Lang.’ College student ako, at sobrang nata-touch ako sa mga episodes. Hindi ko tinitingnan na pinalitan ko. Bagkus, ipagpapatuloy lamang ng ‘Barangay Love Stories’ ang sinimulan ng ‘Wish Ko Lang’ na makapaghatid ng mga kuwento sa ating mga Kapuso sa telebisyon,” he said.

Rather than treating the transition as a competition, Papa Dudut sees the new time slot as an opportunity for “Barangay Love Stories” to introduce its brand of storytelling to an even wider audience.

“This is the opportunity para sa amin na makilala rin ang brand na aming ipinagmamalaki. And pagkatapos n’yong mapanood, masarap palang ma-in love at masarap palang maramdaman na nagmamahal at nagtitiwala kang muli,” he shared.

But while Papa Dudut is a seasoned voice behind the microphone, television presents an entirely different challenge. After spending 17 years telling stories through radio, he now has to adjust to performing in front of cameras.

“Ang lagi kong sinasabi is, guide me sa kung ano ang process sa harap ng camera. Hindi ko nga alam kung steady lang ba,” he admitted.

He also candidly talked about the major adjustment of becoming more conscious of his appearance and movements now that audiences can finally see him.

“This is a new journey for me kasi I’ve been doing radio for 17 years, and wala naman akong pakialam sa itsura ko sa radio kasi wala naman nakakakita. Recent lang naman kami nagkaroon ng livestreaming,” Papa Dudut said.

Despite the unfamiliar territory, Papa Dudut is ready to take charge of this new chapter and bring the emotional storytelling that made “Barangay Love Stories” a radio favorite to the television screen.

The first three episodes will feature Shuvee Etrata and Anthony Constantino, Sofia Pablo and Iñigo Jose, and Ashley Sarmiento and Rave Victoria.
