Puregold is adding a new challenge to its growing Hakot Relay series.

The retail giant has announced the launch of its first-ever 8-kilometer individual race as part of the Puregold Hakot Relay Southern Luzon leg, giving runners a chance to compete solo instead of as part of a relay team.

Set for September 19, 2026 at the Vermosa Sports Hub, the new category marks an expansion of the popular running event, which has become known for combining fitness, teamwork, and community engagement.

In a social media post on Sunday, Puregold teased the new race category with the challenge: “Takbo. Panalo. 8km na!”

The company said registration for the individual run will open on June 27, with full registration details expected to be released soon.

The race will be held alongside the Southern Luzon edition of the Hakot Relay, which draws participants from across the region. Unlike the traditional relay format that requires teams, the 8K category allows runners to test their endurance on their own.

Puregold is positioning the event as a challenge for both seasoned runners and fitness enthusiasts looking to push themselves further.

The company even joked that participants should start saving and training now for stronger “lungs, calves, and glutes” ahead of the race.

Registration will be available at selected Puregold branches, including Puregold Anabu in Imus City, Puregold Lipa, and Puregold Biñan Pavilion.

The addition of the 8K race reflects the growing popularity of running events in the Philippines, where fun runs, marathons, and community races continue to attract thousands of participants seeking fitness goals and an active lifestyle.

With the launch of the new category, Puregold is betting that more runners will be ready to take on the challenge—and run for the finish line on their own.
