Richard Gutierrez opens up about his father Eddie Gutierrez’s improving health, family responsibility, and what fans can expect from his upcoming projects and personal life as 2026 approaches.
Amid the glitz and celebration of the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal, Richard Gutierrez stood grounded, calm, and reflective, his thoughts firmly anchored on family, gratitude, and the road ahead.
In an interview with selected members of the entertainment press, the actor was asked about the current health condition of his father, veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez, who recently underwent a medical procedure in Singapore.
The question followed his mother Annabelle Rama’s public revelation that Richard was among the children who contributed a significant amount to support their father’s treatment.
“Sinabi niya ba ‘yon? That’s a secret,” Richard said with a smile, choosing humor over detail. He then turned serious, emphasizing that no recognition was needed. “It’s our duty as their kids to take care of them,” he shared, underscoring the strong family values that have long defined the Gutierrez clan.
As Eddie continues his recovery, Richard was also asked about the possibility of working with his father again, this time in his upcoming series with Gerald Anderson, which is set to air on ABS-CBN. While nothing has been confirmed yet, the actor openly expressed hope.
“It’s wishful thinking, and ‘yon din ang prayers namin. It’s such an honor to have worked with him in ‘Incognito’ knowing he really enjoys acting, he enjoys being in front of the camera, playing his character. Naramdaman ko talaga ang passion niya,” Richard said, recalling the experience of previously sharing the screen with his father.
Talks also turned to the future of “Incognito,” the action-packed series that captured viewers’ attention. When asked about a possible second installment, Richard tempered expectations while keeping fans intrigued. “As of now, wala pa. Uunahin muna ang sa amin ni Gerald, something to look forward to for the year,” he explained.
On a more personal note, Richard remained characteristically guarded when questions shifted to his love life particularly about a possible on-screen collaboration with his special someone, Barbie Imperial. Ever the tease, he offered only a hint. “Abangan na lang natin sa January ang announcement,” he said.
As his relationship with Barbie has become more visible to the public, Richard chose to save deeper conversations for later. “Let’s save that for 2026,” he added with a laugh. Pressed for a final word on his love life, he kept it simple yet telling: “Happy, happy.”
With family healing, career momentum, and quiet contentment guiding him, Richard enters the new year focused, grateful, and ready—proof that sometimes the strongest stories are built on duty, patience, and heart.
