Experience the ultimate “Slow Travel” journey from Riyadh to AlUla aboard a five-star hotel on rails.
For the elite traveler, the Dream of the Desert represents the ultimate 2026 bucket list addition. Starting at approximately ₱470,000 ($8,000) per cabin per night and inclusive of meals and all experiences, this ultra-luxury sleeper train brings the global “Slow Travel” trend to the Middle East, where over 2 million Filipinos are working and living.
Saudi Arabia is entering the luxury rail market with its first sleeper trainset to launch in late 2026. Developed by Italy’s Arsenale Group in partnership with Saudi Arabia Railways, the Dream of the Desert luxury train is designed to offer a ‘slow travel’ experience across the Kingdom’s landscapes, from Riyadh to heritage sites like AlUla. The project aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aiming to diversify its high-end tourism offerings beyond traditional resorts.
The train accommodates just 66 passengers in 33 suites across 14 carriages, which also include two restaurant cars and a lounge inspired by a traditional majlis. The interiors, designed by Culture in Architecture, feature materials and color palettes drawn from Saudi craft and desert scenery. Dining is a key component, with menus created by local and international chefs that highlight regional produce and global culinary techniques.
