TRIGGER WARNING: Student allegedly shoots three kittens to death with airsoft gun in Quezon

In one of the videos, an injured kitten can be seen crawling underneath a car as if trying to hide, while rapid airsoft gunshots are heard. The kittens shown in the footage appear to be only several weeks old. Meanwhile, a voice in the background says, “One down!” as laughter erupts.

Another video allegedly contains the remarks, “Triple kill. Tatlo patay, goodluck! Ubos ang siyam na buhay!” as the person behind the camera appears to refer to multiple cats being killed.

In another video, the person behind the camera appears to show the dead and bloodied kittens inside a garbage bag.

The videos were shared in the Estudyanteng LSPU MAIN Facebook group, where the uploader identified the supposed person behind the alleged killings. 

The person allegedly behind the killing is reportedly a student of Laguna State Polytechnic University’s (LSPU) San Pablo City Campus, who lives in Barangay Quipot in Tiaong, although the person’s identity and the circumstances shown in the footage have not been independently established.

The person in question and members of his family have since deactivated their social media accounts. He has also reportedly been summoned to the barangay in connection with the incident, but details about the summons remain scarce.

Bataan Animal Welfare Society, which shared a statement about the circulating posts, said it was “deeply disturbed” by what appeared to show a campus representative using a gun against community or stray cats.

The animal welfare group called for an investigation and asked anyone with firsthand knowledge, original videos, photos, or CCTV footage to come forward while preserving the original files.

The Association of Students in Computer Engineering at LSPU-SPCC separately issued a disclaimer, saying the alleged actions do not reflect the organization’s values and that the individual involved is no longer affiliated with the group.

The group did not establish whether the videos show an actual violation, and it remains unclear whether a formal investigation has been opened by authorities into the alleged killings.

Animal welfare advocates are calling for the original evidence to be turned over to the proper authorities so the identities, circumstances, and possible violations can be properly established.

Whatever the circumstances behind the videos, animal cruelty should never be treated as entertainment or something to be celebrated. Any allegations of animals being deliberately harmed deserve to be properly investigated and, where violations are established, addressed through the appropriate legal channels.
