Viral scene revives demand for Popstar Royalty’s return to films as fans recall her box-office hits and award-winning performances.
Calls for Sarah Geronimo to return to acting have resurfaced online, with fans saying they miss seeing the Popstar Royalty on the big screen more than hearing new music.
The renewed discussion was sparked by a viral clip of a scene from “Unforgettable” with a caption that read: “Still grieving the fact that Sarah G finally showed us a whole new side of herself as an actress just to disappear from the film industry like that.” Others echoed the sentiment with a simple plea: “Bring her back!”
While Geronimo is best known for her music career, she also built an acclaimed filmography over the years. She headlined the blockbuster “Laida Magtalas” trilogy opposite John Lloyd Cruz—“A Very Special Love (2008),” “You Changed My Life (2009),” “and It Takes a Man and a Woman (2013)”—which established her as one of Philippine cinema’s biggest box-office draws and earned her Box Office Queen recognition.
She later received praise for portraying the lead in the Philippine adaptation of “Miss Granny,” a performance that won her Best Actress at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies. In 2019, she took on a more dramatic role in “Unforgettable,” where she portrayed a young woman on the autism spectrum.
Although Geronimo has remained active in music, television appearances, and live performances, she has not starred in a feature film in recent years—prompting many fans to hope that one of Philippine cinema’s most bankable actresses will eventually make her long-awaited return to the silver screen.
