Actor reveals Unplanned Metro Manila Film Festival 2025 Entry is the ‘Best Way to End My Year,’ while giving a candid update on his love life
Actor Enrique Gil says 2025 has been a full and unexpected ride as he closes the year with another major project, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2025 entry “Manila’s Finest.” In the film, he plays a Manila policeman opposite lead star Piolo Pascual.
During the movie’s media conference, Enrique shared that this film became an unplanned but meaningful finale to his jam-packed year.
“I think this film wraps up my 2025. I wasn’t expecting this. Actually, super biglaan lang talaga ito,” he said. “So this wasn’t my plan for 2025, and I’m so happy with this. I think this is the best way to end my year and to start my next year with a new TV series. I hope everything works really well.”
Why Enrique Gil Is skipping MMFF events
Despite back-to-back commitments, Enrique revealed that he managed to squeeze in a short family trip to Europe.
“I’ll be doing promo till the 15th of the month then I have to leave, which was all talked about prior to accepting the film. I told them, ‘Sorry but I have to do so much stuff,’ so hanggang December 15, ako” he explained.
Because of his travel schedule, the actor confirmed he will not be attending both the Parade of Stars on December 19 and the MMFF Gabi ng Parangal after the festival’s opening night.
“I won’t be riding the float,” he said. “I won’t be [attending the awards night either].” When teased about what he’d do if he won an award, he laughed and said, “No. Si Piolo ang mananalo diyan.”
A candid update on his love life
Enrique also addressed questions about his love life with his usual candid humor.
“Ngayon?” he said, laughing. “Wala nga e. Hopefully we’ll see in 2026? Maybe. I don’t know. If it comes, it comes.”
“I’m open,” he added with a smile.
The actor’s highly anticipated performance in “Manila’s Finest” will kick off the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival on Christmas Day, December 25, 2025.
