Through her legal counsel, Lotlot says she was not consulted, rejects ‘false narrative’
Actress Lotlot de Leon has formally distanced herself from any involvement in matters concerning the estate of her late mother, National Artist Nora Aunor, amid recent public claims.
In a statement released through her legal counsel, Atty. Mark Julius C. Estur, De Leon clarified that she “was not in any way and in any capacity involved or consulted” in initiatives allegedly organized by her brother, Ian de Leon, particularly those related to the administration and management of their mother’s estate.
The statement was issued following Ian de Leon’s remarks in a recent interview, which prompted speculation about the family’s role in estate-related decisions.
“To dispel any speculations and doubt, Ms. de Leon was not in any way and in any capacity involved or consulted in the establishment of a One Person Corporation (OPC) for both a foundation and an enterprise in honor of Ms. Nora Aunor,” the statement read. It further stressed that “any statement of attribution to Ms. de Leon is misleading and a false representation.”
Family rift and estate realities
De Leon also disputed claims that she and her siblings were included in plans for the estate, saying she “was not consulted and simply informed at the very least of any participation or plans.” The statement added that, to her knowledge, “there is no Last Will and Testament executed assigning sole administration and authority to the estate of their mother.”
The actress emphasized that she is not pursuing any inheritance, noting that she “has stepped away completely” from estate matters as a “conscious and respectful decision” after her brother assumed responsibility for legal concerns.
Her camp also revealed that communication between the siblings has ceased. “Ian de Leon and our Client have no communication since,” the statement said, adding that de Leon found it “deeply hurtful” when her brother later denied knowledge of a foundation she had previously established with her siblings.
After maintaining silence “out of respect for their mother,” de Leon said she is now speaking out to correct misconceptions. “Our client will not allow her name to be dragged into something she is not a part of, or used in a way that does not reflect the truth,” the statement read.
Estur added that de Leon “stands independently and refuses to be part of a false narrative,” and urged the public and media not to associate her with her brother’s initiatives moving forward.
The statement coincides with the first death anniversary of Nora Aunor, with de Leon reaffirming that she will continue to honor her mother’s memory “privately, truthfully and in her own way.”
