The late National Artist’s daughter restores her mother’s gravestone and thanks those who helped her honor a legend.
As a way of coping with loss, Lotlot de Leon, daughter of the late superstar and National Artist for Film Nora Aunor, offered a glimpse into their family’s preparations to honor her mother’s memory during the recent All Souls’ Day commemoration.
Aunor, who passed away in April this year, was laid to rest at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig City.
In a social media post, Lotlot shared a photo of her mother’s newly restored gravestone—simple, yet filled with love.
Lotlot de Leon shares the newly restored gravestone of her mother, National Artist for Film Nora Aunor, at the Libingan ng mga Bayani ahead of All Souls’ Day.
“Ayan, gawa na yung bagong gravestone ni Mommy. Nasa LNMB (Libingan ng mga Bayani) po kasi ako and nakita ko na nagkaroon po ng sira yung lapida. So tinawagan ko agad si Maricel of Leciram Stone Enterprise at nakiusap ako kung pwedeng mapalitan agad bago mag-Undas. And true to her word, nagawa agad,” Lotlot wrote.
She also expressed her gratitude to those who extended their help and kindness during this time. “I met Maricel through my good friend Shyr Valdez, and I’m just so grateful for all the kindness. Maricel, thank you for heeding my call. Salamat sa agarang pag-aasikaso para kay Mommy,” she added.
Lotlot ended her post with a gentle reminder to fans and visitors to maintain peace and order at her mother’s resting place. “Thank you for your love for Mommy,” she wrote.
Earlier this year, in the family’s public statement following Aunor’s passing, her children—Lotlot, Ian, Matet, and Kenneth—expressed deep gratitude to the Filipino people for their unwavering love and support for their mother, whom they described as a generous and loving person to everyone around her.
Nora Aunor’s legacy remains unparalleled in Philippine entertainment history. Having starred in over 170 films, she began her career in 1967 with “All Over the World” and soon became a household name for her authenticity and relatability, earning her the beloved title “Ate Guy.”
Aunor made history as the first Filipino actor to win Best Actress at a major international film festival—the Cairo International Film Festival in 1995 for “The Flor Contemplacion Story.”
In 2022, through Proclamation No. 1390 signed by then-President Rodrigo Duterte, Aunor was officially declared a National Artist for Film and Broadcast, becoming the first female actor to receive this highest honor in Philippine arts.
