Filipina RnB artist Denise Julia has officially entered the international music scene after signing with EMPIRE, the US-based label known for working with global stars like Kendrick Lamar, Anderson .Paak, Tink, and Cardi B.
The “NVMD” hitmaker shared the milestone online, reflecting on her journey from Tondo to becoming one of the few homegrown Filipina artists signed under a major US label.
“Coming from Tondo, Philippines, I never imagined the little girl making music out of instinct and pure love would one day find herself here,” Denise wrote. “No shortcuts, no easy path… no nepotism (lol) 😂 just years of choosing to create through every high and low.”
She also emphasized the importance of Filipino representation in global music spaces, saying the achievement proves that “Filipino artistry deserves space on the global stage exactly as we are.”
Fans quickly flooded social media with celebratory reactions, with many jokingly saying, “Iniwan mo kami sa kanal, ma!” as they expressed pride over Denise’s breakthrough.
