After closing along Jupiter Street, it reopens in the Ayala district.
Strumm’s Makati, the iconic live music venue which last operated along Jupiter Street, is set to reopen in the Ayala district after six years of closure.
In a June 19 Threads post, chef Ryan Siapan shared updates on the famed venue’s return.
“Opening STRUMM’S in Ayala Makati soon. 70’s, 80’s, 90’s babies get ready, we will rock the house,” he wrote.
Strumm’s became a go-to spot for throwback acts, casual jammers and music lovers across the metro. The bar’s regular bands varied across rock, disco, jazz, pop, and soul.
Businessman Mari Lagdameo and late Inquirer president Louie Prieto originally opened the bar along Makati Avenue in 1992. It later moved to Jupiter Street, where it stood for nearly two decades as part of the city’s nightlife scene.
The bar announced an indefinite shutdown in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, though it assured patrons it would eventually reopen.
On April 11 of this year, Strumm’s announced it had found a new home in the Ayala district, promising a new venue “where parking won’t be a problem.”
The new location opens the door to fresh audiences and sounds, while keeping the venue’s role as a gathering place for music lovers and performers.
