Actress leans on family support as she prepares to lead “Bongga Ka, ’Day!” musical, calling roles both overwhelming and fulfilling.

Atasha Muhlach, who will take on the role of Annie Batungbakal in the musical “Bongga Ka, ’Day,” admitted that the pressure of stepping into the iconic role has been overwhelming at times.

Still, the young actress said a strong support system has helped ease her pre-show nerves. “Kanina, halimbawa, I was so, so nervous to perform,” she told radar Entertainment after a press conference on Tuesday. “But knowing that I have my family who supports me and loves me, that was reassurance.”

That support came in full force from her parents, Aga Muhlach and Charlene Gonzales-Muhlach, who sent her a heartfelt message ahead of her theatrical return: “Congratulations, we’re so proud of you, and we’re so excited for people to see Annie B.”

Speaking to the press about her casting, Atasha shared that her parents have been unwavering in their encouragement and pride. “They were very, very proud kasi alam nila how much I wanted to perform and to enter that world and take that risk,” she said.

She added that her family witnessed firsthand the level of dedication she poured into preparing for the role. “They saw the amount of preparation that I did just for the auditions alone, and for them to see that it’s coming to life, they’re nothing but the happiest for me.”

The milestone has also brought emotional moments at home. Atasha recalled tearing up when her brother, “Bagets: The Musical” actor Andres Muhlach, reassured her that she was ready to take on the role.

Fifteen years after playing Brigitta von Trapp in the local production of “The Sound of Music,” Atasha returns to the Newport Performing Arts Theater—the same stage where she first began her theater journey.

With her family firmly behind her, Atasha is set to lead the production of “Bongga Ka, ’Day!: The Annie Batungbakal Musical” when it opens this September. She will perform alongside Sam Concepcion, KD Estrada, Anthony Rosaldo, Jeff Moses, John Lapus, Jackie Lou Blanco, among others.
