The deal supports a facility supplying renewable electricity to PENELCO customers as the bank expands its renewable energy financing portfolio.
More renewable electricity is set to reach homes and businesses in Bataan, backed by an ₱893 million financing deal that supports a solar project expected to deliver clean power for years to come.
Security Bank said it has completed the refinancing of the 17.4-megawatt Solana Solar Beta Solar Power Project in Hermosa, Bataan. The facility, which started commercial operations in May, is expected to generate about 35.5 gigawatt-hours of electricity every year, with 10 MW committed to Peninsula Electric Cooperative Inc. (PENELCO) under a 20-year power supply agreement.
A more reliable electricity supply gives businesses greater confidence to expand while helping households benefit from a more diverse energy mix. As demand for power continues to grow, adding renewable energy also reduces dependence on conventional sources and strengthens the grid serving local communities.
The transaction also marks Security Bank’s first partnership with Climate Fund Managers and Norfund, two investors that support renewable energy projects in developing markets.
Security Bank said it has now financed 24 renewable energy projects nationwide, representing 4.30 gigawatts of installed capacity. Its broader sustainable finance portfolio has also reached ₱116.95 billion in disbursements as of May 2026.
