‘Love U Lots’ among few PH series tackling Dissociative Identity Disorder

Bea Binene and Wilbert Ross lead Viva One show tackling Dissociative Identity Disorder with romance and humor.

Mental health takes an uncommon spotlight in Philippine romantic comedies as “Love U Lots” places Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) at the heart of its story.

Premiering on July 24 via Viva One, the eight-episode series stars Bea Binene as Ysa, a painter living with DID—a complex mental health condition characterized by the presence of two or more distinct identity states, often associated with severe trauma—and Wilbert Ross as Estong, a man trying to rebuild his life after heartbreak.

While local television has previously tackled mental health issues such as depression and anxiety, stories centered on DID remain rare, making “Love U Lots” one of the few Filipino series to explore the condition in a lead role. 

The series follows Estong after a missing painting leads him to Ysa, whose shifting personalities complicate—and eventually deepen—their growing connection.

Speaking about the role, Bea said portraying a character with DID required extensive preparation, revealing that the production consulted researchers and on-set advisers to better understand the condition. Wilbert, meanwhile, said the series balances its psychological themes with humor and romance rather than treating the subject as pure suspense.

The project also reunites the popular “WilBea” tandem, whose on-screen pairing gained attention through “Golden Sceneries of Tomorrow.”
