“The Voice Kids PH” grand winner reacts to old clips: ‘Ako ang nahihiya sa sarili ko.’
Former child singing sensation Lyca Gairanod may have grown into a more seasoned performer, but there is one thing from her younger years she still has a hard time watching: her old videos.
During her guest appearance on GMA Network’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Lyca was surprised with clips from her childhood, taking her back to the days when her powerful voice and adorable personality first captured Filipino viewers’ attention.
Host Boy Abunda then asked the singer how she reacts whenever she sees her old recordings, especially since many of them continue to resurface on social media.
“Ikaw, anong reaction mo kapag napapanood mo ’yung mga lumang videos mo?” Abunda asked.
Lyca could not help but laugh at herself, admitting that seeing her younger self on screen often leaves her wondering how she managed to do some of the things she did back then.
“Ako po, ’yong reaction ko ano eh, ‘Ginawa ko pala ’to? Hala!’ Kase syempre noong bata ka makakalimutan mo sa dami mong ginagawa. So, pag bumabalik siya, ako ang nahihiya sa sarili ko, Tito Boy,” she said.
Her reaction offered a glimpse of how differently she now sees the childhood performances that helped launch her career.
Lyca rose to fame in 2014 after winning the first season of “The Voice Kids Philippines.” She quickly became one of the country’s most recognizable child performers, with her powerful singing voice and natural charm winning over audiences.
Her childhood performances and television appearances have since become part of her digital footprint, with old clips continuing to resurface on social media years later.
While fans revisit those videos with nostalgia, Lyca now watches them with a mix of amusement and embarrassment.
Still, the clips serve as a reminder of how far she has come since becoming a young performer whose voice first caught the country’s attention.
