Ashtine Olviga headlines the first set of stories in Viva One Originals, taking on diverse roles alongside Rufa Mae Quinto, Lee Dae-won and Claudine Barretto.
Ashtine Olviga is stepping into a new chapter in her career as she headlines her own set of stories in the upcoming anthology series from Viva Entertainment, marking a major solo venture for the young actress.
The project places Olviga alongside seasoned and international talents including Rufa Mae Quinto, Korean actor Lee Dae-won, and veteran actress Claudine Barretto. The anthology also signals a new milestone for the Viva artist as she takes on projects without her perennial on-screen partner Andres Muhlach.
Ashtine embraces her solo journey
As she explores more solo opportunities, Ashtine admitted that she continues to push herself and put in extra effort for every project she takes on.
“Kasi feeling ko lagi mayroon akong mga kailangan i-improve and kapag may mga heavy scenes na gan’on hindi ako palaging sure kung magagawa ko ba or hindi. Doon ako palaging kinakabahan so kapag nakikita ko na maganda ang take, mas nakakahinga ako ng maluwag,” she shared with a laugh.
Ashtine becomes the first artist to be featured in the anthology Viva One Originals, with the first episode set to premiere on March 13.
During the media conference, the young actress also shared that despite focusing on a solo project, she and Andres continue to support each other’s careers.
“Siyempre happy po ako kasi bago po sa kaniya ‘yon and marami siyang matutunan sa mga kasama niya sa work niya, and ma-enhance rin po ‘yong pagsayaw, pagkanta and pag-act niya. ‘Yong experience niya doon (‘Bagets The Musical”) is malaking bagay na para sa kaniya,” she said.
As she charts her own path in the industry, Ashtine also emphasized the importance of commitment and continuous learning as an artist. “Siguro mag-stick talaga sa commitment, especially kapag may project ka aralin mo talaga and ‘wag kang tamarin dahil feeling mo naabot mo na kung nasaan ka ngayon. Iyong diligence mo and willingness to learn dapat 100 percent pa rin kagaya n’ong nag-start ka,” she added.
Versatile roles define new anthology
For her first episode, she ventures into comedy through “Who’s the Boss?” directed by RC delos Reyes. She plays the young assistant of Rufa Mae, who portrays her sharp-tongued CEO in a body-swap comedy that explores empathy, self-discovery, and the true cost of power.
The romantic story “My Melody,” directed by Fifth Solomon, will pair Ashtine with Korean star Lee Dae-won. Premiering on March 20, she plays Melody, whose path crosses with Korean celebrity Chanwoo. The series also features Rob Deniel.
Ashtine then takes on one of her most intense roles yet in “Balik-Eskwela,” an episode inspired by viral horror content from the “Book of Bad Ideas” on TikTok. She stars alongside Marco Gumabao in the episode set to premiere on March 27.
The Viva artist caps off her four-episode anthology with the drama “Bahay-Bahayan,” where she stars opposite Claudine. The episode premieres on April 4.
