A new kind of Filipino film festival is here—one that’s not afraid to bare it all.
A new wave of fearless storytelling is about to take over the big screen.
This October, the inaugural CineSilip Film Festival makes its debut at Ayala Malls Cinemas, running from Oct. 22 to 28, and promising a week of raw, daring, and thought-provoking Filipino films.
Positioned as a bold platform for contemporary filmmakers, CineSilip celebrates stories that dare to look where others turn away–films that explore desire, truth, and the unseen corners of human experience. In its very first year, the festival drew over a hundred submissions, narrowing them down to seven entries that redefine what local cinema can be.
“CineSilip aims to highlight and promote the skill, artistry, and creativity of emerging Filipino directors,” said festival director Ronald Arguelles during the official press launch. “These are adult, mature stories told with creative freedom spanning genres like horror, comedy, and drama. Each film challenges the audience to see beyond the surface.”
Each of the seven films pushes cinematic boundaries, exploring intimacy, obsession, and the complexity of the human condition with unflinching honesty, added Arguelles.

A festival for the fearless
“We want audiences to experience seven films filled with boldness unafraid to explore passion and intrigue, and to push the boundaries of Filipino filmmaking,” Arguelles added.
True to its name, CineSilip which translates to “a glimpse” or “a peek” invites audiences to look into hidden truths and unspoken realities. Beyond titillation, the festival seeks to provoke thought and spark conversations about identity, morality, and human desire.
By partnering with Ayala Malls Cinemas, CineSilip ensures that these bold independent films are experienced where they belong on the big screen, in front of audiences ready to be challenged and moved.
As Cine Silip 2025 unrolls its red carpet, it signals more than just the birth of a new film festival; it marks the arrival of a movement. One that champions freedom, honesty, and the courage to tell stories that others wouldn’t dare to show.
