Agency works with DICT to assess security incident and improve digital security.

The Department of Labor and Employment has taken down one of its official websites after an alleged hack, calling the issue an “unexpected technical incident.”

radar Business first reported the DOLE National Capital Region Clients Portal as potentially hacked on September 7 at around 5pm.

The website’s search engine preview displayed a hate message aimed at ethnic minorities, including the line, “i hope every single people in metro manila fucking dies,” among other offensive statements. When opened, the site contained a “System Under Maintenance” notice due to ongoing security enhancements.

On September 8, DOLE NCR took down the website entirely and assured the public of corrective measures to address the issue.

“The portal functions solely as a public landing page that provides links to the various online services of DOLE-NCR. It does not function as an information system, maintain a database, or directly collect and store personal information,” DOLE NCR said.

The agency said it was coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications Technology to assess the incident and improve digital security.

DOLE NCR said the portal will resume normal operations once the security assessment and validation are completed.
