The actor returns after a six-year hiatus, and calls ‘Someone, Someday’ a fresh start inspired by Kathryn Bernardo, Maja Salvador.

As he returns to primetime television, actor and musician James Reid admitted that stepping back into acting feels like starting from scratch.

Starring alongside Kathryn Bernardo in ABS-CBN Studios’ upcoming drama series “Someone, Someday,” James shared that after nearly six years away from acting to focus on music, he now considers himself a beginner again.

He also said that working with Bernardo and Maja Salvador has inspired him to elevate his craft.

“The character she’s playing isn’t easy, and the way she has woven herself into the story is quite complicated. So working with the two of them is very inspiring to me because I’m treating this project like I’m learning the ropes all over again. I’m super grateful that I get to work with two titans in the industry. I consider myself very lucky,” he shared.

James also confirmed that taking a lengthy break from acting was entirely his decision. He chose to step away from the spotlight to dedicate himself to music.

“It was really my choice,” the actor said when asked if he personally decided to take a long break from acting to pursue his passion for music.

Reflecting on those years, James described the period as a time of “soul-searching” that helped him grow both personally and professionally.

“Actually may isang project ako, I think it was 2020, that was supposed to push through, it’s ‘Soulmate.’ But that’s when I really made the decision to take a break from acting and focus on music. That’s considered five to six years of soul-searching,” he shared.

Now that he has returned, James believes he has found the clarity he was searching for and is ready to embrace acting again.

He also expressed gratitude to his loyal supporters, who stood by him throughout his hiatus, his pursuit of music, and the ups and downs of his career.

“But I’m done with that part, and I’m good. I think I found all I need to know, and I’m just happy to be back. I’m super grateful that after all these years, I’m welcomed again with such open arms,” he said.

Directed by Chad V. Vidanes and Dolly Dulu, “Someone, Someday” also stars Dimples Romana, Rowell Santiago, Rita Avila, McCoy de Leon, and Daniela Stranner.

Produced by Dreamscape Entertainment, the feel-good drama series premieres on July 27 at 8:45 PM across ABS-CBN’s digital platforms. It will stream first on Netflix beginning July 24, followed by iWant on July 25, and will also be available on TFC.
