Jennifer Lee addresses Sexbomb comparisons ahead of Viva Hot Babes reunion

Former Viva Hot Babe Jennifer Lee sets the record straight on Sexbomb comparisons and reunion plans.

Following the success of the Sexbomb reunion concerts, fellow 2000s icon Viva Hot Babes is officially returning to the stage this October. Launched by Vic del Rosario and led by Maui Taylor, the group rose to fame with hit novelty tracks like “Bulaklak” and “Kikay.”

Despite debuting four years after Sexbomb, the two groups were constantly compared at their peak. As nostalgia fuels both revivals, group member Jennifer Lee shared with radar.ph whether they are prepared for fresh claims of following Sexbomb’s lead.

“Honestly, matagal na naming pinag-uusapan ang reunion, pero dapat tama ang timing, opportunity, at puso. Ibang-iba na kasi ang buhay namin ngayon. Mayroong DJ, moms, wives, business women, professionals—kanya-kanyang priorities,” Lee said.

She explained that after recent discussions, their schedules and priorities finally aligned with Viva.

“We realized na special pa rin ang Viva Hot Babes. We’ve influenced Philippine pop culture and touched many lives with our music, performances, TV, and movie projects. Hindi lang kami magkakagrupo; may friendship, history, and memories pa rin na gusto naming i-share sa lahat,” she added.

Lee clarified that there is no rivalry between the two iconic groups, noting that the Viva Hot Babes were actually inspired by Sexbomb’s success.

“We are friends and not rivals. Honestly, happy kami for them. Ang success ng ibang artists and groups from our era feels like our win, too,” Lee emphasized. “Hindi naman maiiwasan ang comparison, pero magkaiba kami ng identity. Pareho kaming naging bahagi ng isang generation, pero iba ang style, music, personality, at journey ng bawat grupo. We are not trying to be anyone else. We are Viva Hot Babes, and we have our own story to tell.”

Addressing past rumors of internal group conflicts, Lee acknowledged that while minor misunderstandings occurred among members—including Katya Santos, Andrea del Rosario, Gwen Garci, Jen Rosendahl, Sheree Bautista, Hazel Cabrera, Myles Hernandez, Kristine Jaca, Asia Agcaoili, Jaycee Parker, Zara Lopez, and herself—strong camaraderie ultimately prevailed.

“Normal naman sa isang grupo na magkaroon ng different opinions. Siyempre, may tampuhan, moods, at misunderstandings dahil tao lang kami. Pero hindi kami nagkaroon ng factions,” Lee clarified. “Kapag binalikan namin ang mga tampuhan dati, natatawa na lang kami. Minsan mapapaisip ka, baka gutom o pagod lang pala kaya moody. Now, when we come together, mas nangingibabaw ang magandang memories at pagmamahal namin sa isa’t isa.”

Outside of the upcoming reunion, Lee is thriving as a professional festival DJ and producer. While reading diverse crowds and mastering DJ gear present constant challenges, she finds deep fulfillment in bringing people together through music.

She credits her smooth balancing act between career and family to her husband, Lipa City Councilor Mark Luancing, with whom she shares a son, Jediel.

“I feel blessed and happy sa family life ko. I’m fortunate na supportive ang asawa ko sa career and passion ko. He’s very creative and even helps me come up with ideas for my events and performances,” she shared.
