Actor and singer Markki Stroem shared a heartwarming Pride Month experience after unexpectedly finding himself in the middle of the Oslo Pride Parade while attending his brother’s wedding in Norway.
In a Facebook post, Stroem revealed that his brother Eirik’s wedding happened on the same day as the annual Pride celebration in Oslo, creating what he described as a beautiful convergence of love and acceptance.
“Turns out my brother’s wedding was at the same time as the Oslo Pride parade! What a celebration it is here in Norway, everyone celebrating all forms of love,” he wrote.
The performer praised the atmosphere in Norway, saying he was struck by the country’s openness and inclusivity.
“So progressive and NO HATE, even churches have rainbow flags here,” Stroem added, emphasizing how the Pride celebration extended across different sectors of society.
Despite being dressed for the wedding, Stroem and his partner, Vigdis Bonvik, decided to briefly join the parade while walking to the wedding reception.
“Walking to the wedding reception, Vigdis Bonvik and I decided to join a bit of the parade and celebrate with the whole of Norway,” he shared.
Stroem reflected on how meaningful the day became, as it celebrated not only LGBTQ+ pride but also the marriage of his brother and new sister-in-law.
“Its quite beautiful, especially since we are also celebrating the love between my brother Eirik and his new wife,” he wrote.
He ended his post by greeting everyone a happy Pride Month, writing, “Happy Pride everyone 🌈.”
The post resonated with many followers, who praised the coincidence of the two celebrations and echoed Stroem’s message of love, acceptance, and equality.
