Matty Juniosa celebrates fourth-place finish on “Britain’s Got Talent” after unforgettable performances and rare double Golden Buzzer milestone journey.
Filipino singer Matty Juniosa capped off a standout run on “Britain’s Got Talent” Season 19, finishing in fourth place during Sunday’s live grand final.
The 27-year-old Mandaluyong native, now based in Glasgow while studying musical theater at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, delivered a final performance that showcased both control and emotional depth.
He sang Sinéad O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U,” closing a journey that had already captured international attention long before the finale.
Juniosa’s path to the finals was defined by two rare Golden Buzzers. He first stunned the judges during auditions with a powerful rendition of Prince’s “Purple Rain,” earning Simon Cowell’s Golden Buzzer and an automatic spot in the semi-finals.
Weeks later, he raised the bar again in the live semis with Aerosmith’s “Dream On,” which secured Amanda Holden’s Golden Buzzer and quickly went viral online, drawing praise for his vocal range and theatrical intensity.
Despite what judges described as a “vocal masterclass” in the final, Juniosa ultimately placed fourth after a public vote crowned the Hawkstone Farmers Choir as champions, with Celestial in second and dance duo Anastasiia and Salsa in third.
The result, however, marked only one part of a larger milestone. Juniosa first entered the public eye as a Top 12 finalist on the inaugural season of “Idol Philippines” in 2019 and later performed with vocal group iDolls. Since moving to Scotland in 2022, he has balanced studies with part-time work while steadily building a theater career.
His stage credits include “Kinky Boots,” “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” “Oscar at the Crown,” and “Ne Zha,” reflecting a growing presence in musical theater. He is also set to join the West End production of “Jesus Christ Superstar,” where he will take on the role of Annas.
While he did not win the competition, Juniosa leaves “Britain’s Got Talent” with two Golden Buzzers, a rapidly expanding international fanbase, viral performances, and rising opportunities in theater.
For many artists, televised competitions are endpoints. For Juniosa, this chapter appears to be a launchpad into something much bigger—one built not just on a final ranking, but on momentum, visibility, and global reach.
