“Pray for Mindanao:” Melai joins calls for urgent assistance after quake.
Kapamilya host Melai Cantiveros turned to social media to seek prayers after Mindanao was hit by a magnitude 7.8 earthquake, including her hometown of General Santos City.
In a social media post on Monday, Melai asked for prayers for the families affected by the disaster and acknowledged the challenges brought by the strong quake.
“In Jesus’ name tanggalin nyu na Lord ang mga aftershocks, and sana Lord makabangon ang Mindanao labi na ang Gensan Lord sa paglindol na itu,” she wrote.
As General Santos City reeled from the effects of the earthquake, the TV host also used her platform to call for additional tents for those in need.
“thank you sa lahat ng nangamusta sa pamilya ko, thank you Lord all safe sila and praying for all families na safe din sila panawagan nadin po sa lahat ng gustu mag help need po ng more Tents sa mga hospitals namin dun,” she posted, followed by the hashtag #PrayForMindanao.
As of this writing, authorities have reported 19 deaths and 134 injuries following the massive destruction caused by the earthquake.
