Nadine Lustre joins global icon apl.de.ap for her new comeback single “Donuts.”
In a social media post, the actress and singer shared photos with the Black Eyed Peas member as she promoted their newly released collaboration, “Donuts.”
“A little surreal making music with a legend,” Lustre wrote, tagging apl.de.ap in the post.
She also announced that “Donuts” is now available on all major streaming platforms.
The post quickly drew attention because the collaboration pairs Lustre, one of the most recognizable names in Philippine pop culture, with apl.de.ap, one of the country’s most successful global music exports.
Released on September 4, “Donuts” mixes Lustre’s pop and R&B style with apl.de.ap’s hip-hop sound. The track also features a Tagalog rap verse from Lustre, giving fans another glimpse of the musical direction she is exploring in her comeback era.
The collaboration comes after Lustre returned to music following a three-year hiatus with “Personal,” her boxing-themed comeback single.
Apl.de.ap had also previously expressed interest in working with Lustre, making the release a collaboration that had been anticipated by fans for some time.
For Lustre, however, the moment appeared to be more personal than promotional.
Her brief post summed it up simply: even after years in showbiz, making a song with a Filipino music legend still felt surreal.
