His workshop for newbies and working creators, begins on May 22.
Rain Yamson II is all about paying it forward.
In an interview with radar Entertainment, the two-time FAMAS award-winning cinematographer looked back on how his journey began under Director/Cinematographer JA Tadena.
“When I was aspiring to be a filmmaker, Director/Cinematographer JA Tadena took me under his wing. He taught me a lot, and that experience shaped how I see the craft today. Now, I want to pay it forward by sharing the knowledge I’ve gained and inspiring others to pursue their dreams,” he said.
Rain spent four years as an apprentice and strongly believes that real learning happens on set. Since then, he has also mentored around ten filmmakers, guiding them through both the technical and creative sides of production.
Now, he’s opening that experience to more aspiring filmmakers and content creators through a more hands-on approach to learning.
Rain is set to hold a 3-Day intensive cinematography workshop on May 22, 23, and 24, designed for both beginners and working creators.
The workshop focuses on the essentials of filmmaking—lighting, camera movement, composition, and creating cinematic visuals—delivered in a straightforward, no-frills approach rooted in real set experience.
For Rain, it all comes back to learning by doing, and passing that knowledge forward. Slots are limited, and early reservations are encouraged.
