Kangkong King claims “OG” title amid renewed money laundering allegations.

A kangkong chips brand has declared itself the “OG” in a social media post, amid renewed controversy surrounding entrepreneur Josh Mojica, who built his business empire selling the snack.

Kangkong King called itself the “OG kangkong chips since 2019” in a Threads post on September 23. “Hope you can try our product and brand despite all the noise and confusion online,” the shop said.

The post quickly drew attention from netizens, with many interpreting it as a jab at Mojica, who operates the brand Kangkong Chips Original (KCO), amid renewed allegations of money laundering.

In 2022, then 17-year-old Mojica claimed he was already a millionaire just a year after beginning his kangkong chips business. He told Esquire Philippines that he began the business with a recipe from his aunt and ₱3,000 in capital. That year, KCO reportedly sold 1,500 to 2,000 bags a month through e-commerce platforms.

Mojica had faced money laundering claims amid his rapid accumulation of wealth, which he has repeatedly denied. Recently, several Facebook pages claimed he was connected to former Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co, who is involved in the flood control scandal, but the pages did not cite any evidence.

Responding to these claims, Mojica uploaded a video to Facebook on September 20 showcasing operations at KCO’s factory, seemingly to imply that his wealth is legitimate.
