More than just a stagewear.

The designer behind BINI’s Coachella outfits is giving fans a closer look at the craftsmanship behind the group’s now-iconic stage looks.

In a post on X, designer Job Dacon revealed that each outfit incorporated 20 to 25 sheets of real gold leaf and around two pounds of recycled plastic per member, highlighting a blend of luxury and sustainability.

According to Dacon, the pieces were the result of a collaborative effort, with the base garments constructed from beige denim by Marian Zara. The intricate filigree details were inspired by calado carvings found in Filipino heritage houses, while custom molds were created using designs based on the endemic Bantayan Island scallop.

One of the most labor-intensive aspects of the process involved melting down recycled plastic and shaping it into custom molds before applying gold leaf by hand—element by element.

The designer described the project as a meeting point of ingenuity and sustainability on an international stage, as the group brought Filipino-inspired design to one of the world’s biggest music festivals.
