Pepe Herrera blends in fast with OG ‘Home Along’ cast

“Noong nakilala ko si Boy 2 Quizon, nagka-amuyan na agad kami ng karakas,” he said, referring to the film’s director and one of its lead stars. “Sa pakiramdam ko, parang hinulma kami galing sa iisang uri ng lupa.”

That instant connection carried over to the rest of the cast, which includes Vandolph Quizon, Gio Alvarez, Smokey Manaloto, Claudine Barretto, and Maybelyn dela Cruz. 

Pepe said it wasn’t just about working together, it also felt like joining a real family. “The humor was the same,” he said. “We’d just laugh behind the scenes. Even in the hotel, we’d hang out, talk—it was easy.”

Despite not being part of the original 1990s sitcom, Pepe said being welcomed by the late Comedy King Dolphy’s family made the experience feel complete. “Hindi ko na-meet si Dolphy, but working with his family, parang nakatrabaho ko na rin siya.”

He added that working with Claudine and the rest of the cast came with a familiar dynamic. “Parang pamilya agad. May konting asaran, may sibling energy, but that makes it easier. Naalala mo rin sarili mong pamilya.”

The film, which took two and a half years to complete, is both a continuation and a reunion, bringing together original cast members while welcoming new faces like Pepe into the fold. And if his experience is any indication, the “Home Along” family just got a little bigger.
