The Academy has yet to announce its shortlist.
BINI has landed an early spot in the awards conversation after their song “A Parallel World” from DreamWorks Animation’s “Forgotten Island” was included in Gold Derby’s early predictions for the 2027 Academy Awards Best Original Song race.
In its latest forecast, Gold Derby listed “A Parallel World” as one of the songs in contention for the remaining nomination slots, alongside “BRB,” another “Forgotten Island” track performed by Oscar-winning singer-songwriter H.E.R. and actress-producer Liza Soberano.
Although the predictions are unofficial and the Academy has yet to announce its shortlist, BINI’s inclusion in the awards forecast immediately sparked excitement among fans.
“After a potential Grammy nomination, ngayon naman Oscar/Academy prediction. The fact that they’re even being mentioned is already massive,” one fan wrote online.
The recognition adds to what has already been a landmark year for the P-pop sensation. Earlier this year, BINI received the “Global Force Award” at the 2026 Billboard Women in Music, recognizing their growing international influence. In April, the group also made history as the first homegrown Filipino act to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, where they debuted “Blush” from their EP Signals.
