She captured Filipinos’ hearts with her viral “glow-up” after severe wounds and maggot infestation.

Philippine eagle Sawaga-Dalwangan, who recently won hearts for her “glow up” after a severe infection, has died.

The Philippine Eagle Foundation announced the eagle’s passing on July 18.

Sawaga-Dalwangan was rescued on July 3 and placed under PEF’s care after sustaining severe wounds and a maggot infestation.

“After her rescue, she showed real signs of improvement. She became stronger and more alert, ate on her own and responded well to treatment (…) Sadly, she later suffered a sudden medical crisis and could not be revived,” the PEF said in a Facebook post.

PEF said the initial necropsy has been completed, while histopathological examinations are ongoing to determine the eagle’s health at her death.
