Jopay Paguia calls Rochelle’s remarks ‘out of context,’ downplays SexBomb group tension

Jopay addresses missing the latest SexBomb comeback video while clearing the air on group dynamics.

Jopay Paguia has addressed the growing speculation surrounding the SexBomb Girls, offering a glimpse into the tension that surfaced after Rochelle Pangilinan’s recent remarks about their group dynamics.

The issue intensified after Jopay and Sunshine Garcia were noticeably absent from the music video of SexBomb’s latest single, “Mama Mama.” Rochelle later discussed the situation on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” acknowledging that misunderstandings happen within the long-running group.

During a podcast guesting with Senator Imee Marcos, Jopay was asked whether she was surprised by Rochelle’s comments.

“‘Di na po kasi bago sa akin ’yun,” Jopay answered.

When told that everyone had been surprised, she said she viewed Rochelle’s response as something taken out of context.

“Out of context lang naman po ‘yong sagot niya pero ang sa akin na lang, I respect na lang po. ‘Di ko naman sinasabi na totoo, pero kung usapang work ethics lang din.. Grabe, Ma’am, kung work ethics lang din, pilay po ako, wala po ako dito.”

Jopay also acknowledged the physical challenges she has faced while continuing to work.

“Ginagampanan ko pa rin po pero kasi po may pamilya po ako. Ako po, walang masamang tinapay naman po sa akin. Kung ayaw po niya ’ko kausapin, it’s okay. Wala naman pong problema sa akin. Lagi naman po akong nang-a-approach.”

Rather than taking the leadership role herself, Jopay admitted that she prefers staying away from conflict.

“Ayaw ko po maging leader kasi ayaw ko po magturo. Hindi po kasi ako bossy na tao. What you see is what you get sa akin. Ayaw ko po mag-lead. Ayaw ko po may makaaway sa grupo,” she explained.

Rochelle previously said that conflicts within the group are resolved on a “case-to-case basis,” while stressing that if both sides want to fix an issue, it can be resolved.

Meanwhile, Aira Bermudez defended Rochelle’s leadership, arguing that firmness is sometimes mistaken for being bossy.

“May mga taong ginagawang bossy ang pagiging matatag, at tinatawag na control freak ang pagiging diretso magsalita. But what they don’t see is the heart behind it all,” Aira wrote.

With SexBomb now mounting a comeback through “Mama Mama” and international performances, the group’s reunion is unfolding alongside unresolved questions about its members’ relationships, and who gets to define what really happened behind the scenes.
