Fueling the next wave of Filipino cinema through financial grants and professional mentorship for graduating student filmmakers.
The Film Development Council of the Philippines has opened applications for the first cycle of its Student Film Assistance Program this April, offering timely support for students working on their thesis or capstone films.
Running from April 13 to 30, the program is open to students from AFS-recognized colleges and universities who are required to produce a film as part of their course. It aims to ease the financial pressure that often comes with student productions, especially when resources are limited but expectations remain high.
Through the Student Film Assistance Program, selected applicants will receive production grants ranging from ₱30,000 to ₱50,000. This funding can help cover essential costs such as equipment, locations, and post-production, allowing students to focus more on their creative work.
Beyond financial support, the program also includes a one-day masterclass with an industry professional, giving student filmmakers a chance to gain practical insights as they complete their projects.
