It’s time to ditch the algorithm and find love in pottery classes and run clubs.

Swiping fatigue is real—and Gen Z is over it. Instead of endless matches that go nowhere, more young people are choosing to meet potential dates the old-fashioned way: in real life, through things they actually enjoy doing.

Here’s where they’re finding dates now—and why it just hits different:

Hobby classes and workshops

At least here, you already know you have something to talk about. Hindi na ‘so what are your hobbies? — you’re literally doing it.

Pottery, painting, film photography, even baking classes—these are the new dating grounds. You’re not there to impress anyone, just to learn something new. The bonus? You meet someone while doing it.

Run clubs and fitness groups

You see them weekly, no pressure. It’s not a date-date agad. It’s just… builds.

From early morning jogs to spin classes, fitness spaces are becoming social hubs. It starts with pacing each other, then coffee after, then maybe something more.

Game nights and interest groups

You get to see their personality agad. How they play, how they joke — it’s more real than a profile.

Board game nights, book clubs, trivia events—these are low-pressure, high-interaction spaces. You bond over shared interests (and a bit of competition).

Workplace connections

You already know their work ethic, their vibe. Hindi na mystery. It feels safer, in a way.

Office crushes are making a comeback. Gen Z is surprisingly more open to dating coworkers, especially when the connection grows naturally through daily interaction.

School and campus life

Group projects are low-key dating apps. You spend so much time together, something’s bound to happen.

For younger Gen Z, nothing beats proximity. Classes, orgs, campus events—these are still prime spots for organic connections.

Concerts, festivals and cons

If we’re both screaming the same lyrics, that’s already a green flag.

Music gigs, fan conventions, and festivals are perfect for meeting people who already like what you like. Instant common ground.

Through mutual friends

May built-in background check na. At least hindi total stranger.

Still undefeated. Being introduced through a friend adds a layer of trust and familiarity that apps just can’t replicate.

Social media (but more organic)

It starts with a like, then a reply, then a convo. Hindi pilit.

When it does happen online, it’s less about swiping and more about natural interaction—replying to stories, reacting to posts, or sharing memes. Apps like Instagram and TikTok are becoming the new “soft launch” dating spaces.

At the end of the day, Gen Z isn’t anti-dating apps—they’re just pro-real connection. Less pressure, more presence. Less swiping, more living.
