Price increase comes in three tranches, starting October 3.
LPG users are set to pay more this month, with prices rising by a total of ₱18 per kilo in three tranches starting Saturday, Oct. 3.
Republic Gas Corp. (REGASCO) president Arnel Ty said the first increase will be ₱10 per kilo on Oct. 3, followed by another ₱5 per kilo on Oct. 10 and the remaining ₱3 per kilo on Oct. 17.
For an 11-kilogram LPG tank currently priced at around ₱1,430, the full increase will add ₱198, bringing the price to about ₱1,628 once all three adjustments take effect.
Ty attributed the increase to higher Saudi Aramco contract prices. The posted price rose by around $65 per metric ton, equivalent to roughly ₱4 per kilo.
The bigger increase came from the premium, which covers shipping costs, and rose by around ₱14 per kilo, Ty said in an interview with broadcaster Alvin Elchico.
With the first adjustment taking effect Saturday, consumers whose LPG supply is running low are advised to consider buying ahead of the scheduled increases.
