Michael Sager pushes ‘Pax Silica’ to trend, urges youth to pay attention

“Siguro it’s a topic that we all should be informed about. ‘Yan yung mga dapat relevant sa mga For-You-Page natin… Ito siguro ang importanteng trend. It’s something that impacts human nature and Mother Nature, especially dito sa Pilipinas, something that the Filipinos deserve to have a say,” he said.

The actor added that he hopes the issue receives the attention it deserves, expressing confidence that younger Filipinos will take an active interest in it.

“I’m sure that the youth now are very, very protective of what we are as a country. Let’s spread more awareness about Pax Silica,” he urged.

Pax Silica is a U.S.-led international coalition aimed at securing global supply chains for semiconductors, artificial intelligence infrastructure, and critical minerals. 

In the Philippines, it includes a proposed 4,000-acre economic security zone in New Clark City, Tarlac, a project that has sparked debate between supporters who see opportunities for technological and economic growth, and critics who warn of possible environmental, agricultural, and geopolitical consequences.

Sager’s remarks come as discussions surrounding the initiative continue to gain traction online. Fellow “Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition” housemate Brent Manalo also recently voiced his concerns, saying, “Tarlac heavily relies on agriculture for its sustenance and marami sa magsasaka namin ang posibleng marelocate at mawalan ng kabuhayan dahil dito. And this is just one of the many risks it poses.”

With more public figures now speaking about the issue, conversations around Pax Silica continue to grow beyond policy circles and onto social media, where many are calling for greater public awareness before major decisions are made.
