The Philippine peso gained 10 centavos to close at ₱62.801 against the US dollar on Friday, October 9, 2026, rebounding from its record low of ₱62.900 in the previous session.
The local currency hit an intraday low of ₱62.90, matching the record low from the previous session, and continued to stay within the ₱62 mark.
Equities advance to reclaim 5,700 mark
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) similarly advanced, rising 90.60 points, or 1.62%, to close at 5,700.99, recovering from the previous trading session. The index reclaimed the 5,700 mark amid alternating movements over the past few sessions.
Friday’s session brought a welcome breather to cap off a volatile week across local financial markets. The recovery across both foreign exchange and equities helped stabilize investor sentiment following Thursday’s steep sell-off.
