The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) dropped 10.33 points, or 0.16%, to close at 6,286.31, extending the losses posted in the previous trading session. The index remained below the 6,300 level, suggesting the market continued to trade cautiously after slipping beneath the threshold.

Peso returns to ₱60 range

The Philippine peso strengthened, gaining over 41 centavos to close at ₱60.751 against the US dollar, recovering sharply after briefly returning to the ₱61 territory in the previous session.

The local currency reached an intraday high of ₱61.05, around 17 centavos stronger than Tuesday’s rate. The latest finish pushed the peso back into the ₱60 range, signaling renewed strength after the previous day’s sharp decline.

Wednesday’s session reflected mixed sentiment across Philippine financial markets.
