Sold 23.2 million case liters in 2025, down 2.5% as global rum category also softens.
Tanduay remains the world’s top-selling rum for a ninth straight year, even as its latest results point to a softer global spirits environment where volume gains have become harder to sustain.
The Filipino brand sold 23.2 million case liters in 2025, a 2.5% decline from the previous year. The dip mirrors a broader slowdown in the rum category, which slipped from 73.7 million to 73.1 million cases over the same period, according to Drinks International’s Millionaires’ Club rankings.
Despite the contraction, Tanduay maintained its lead over global competitors, underscoring how entrenched volume leaders can remain even in declining categories. The rankings are based on sales data collected from companies and industry reporting from major spirits brands.
Industry commentary in the report points to a change in demand patterns, with growth increasingly concentrated in lower-priced and locally anchored labels. That trend reflects ongoing price sensitivity in key markets, where affordability and distribution reach are proving more influential than premium positioning.
The broader spirits market also remains under pressure, with uneven global demand and ongoing supply chain disruptions continuing to weigh on performance across categories. Rum, in particular, has seen limited expansion, with gains concentrated in select value segments.
Tanduay, founded in 1854, continues to rely on scale, pricing strength, and distribution reach to maintain its global position. While category conditions have limited growth momentum, it remains the benchmark volume leader in the global rum market.
