‘Taskforce Firewall’ cast stresses real-life lessons on scams, OTP safety as GMA’s high-stakes series blends action with digital awareness.
For Buboy Villar, the action-drama “Taskforce Firewall” arrives at a crucial moment, as more Filipinos fall victim to online scams and digital fraud.
“Maganda po dito kasi kailangan natin matuto. Ang dami nang nangyayaring scams, ang dami ng mga victims—ang savings natin, isang pindot lang nawawala dahil sa mga masasamang loob at napagsasamantalhan tayo,” he said, underscoring the urgency of the show’s message.
Jak Roberto echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of the series’ advocacy and its potential to equip viewers with practical knowledge to protect themselves online.
“Lahat ng tungkol sa cybercrime na tinututukan ng show ay iyon ang ipapakita namin sa mga tao. Learnings dito ay huwag tayong magbigay ng OTP. Based on my experience, kahit ang mismong bank na natin, victim na rin ng cyber attack,” he shared.
Designed to raise awareness and encourage vigilance, “Taskforce Firewall” follows a diverse group of individuals brought together by fate and driven by a shared mission: to become cyber protectors in an increasingly dangerous digital landscape.
Leading the ensemble are Kylie Padilla as Isa Cervantes, the disciplined strategist and emotional core of the Firewall team who carries the weight of her parents’ legacy, and Miguel Tanfelix as Galo Villareal, a former soldier whose personal trauma leads him into the fight against cybercrime.
They are joined by Roberto as Hex Silverio, a survivor-turned-hacker whose intelligence becomes one of the team’s strongest assets, and Kyline Alcantara as Callie Sandoval, the group’s sharp and sophisticated financial expert.
Villar stars as Hay-Jhay Gonzaga, the team’s drone and video specialist, whose keen eye for digital surveillance and VFX proves essential to their operations.
With cybercrime emerging as one of today’s most pressing threats, GMA Entertainment Group has joined the conversation through its newest political action-drama series, “Taskforce Firewall,” which premiered on May 25.
During the media launch, Padilla shared her excitement over the series’ emotionally charged and action-packed scenes, while also expressing how much she enjoyed working with Tanfelix for the first time.
“I’m super proud of myself kasi intense ang mga scenes, so abangan ninyo po ’yan. Also, first time ko pong makakasama sa trabaho si Miguel, and buddy-cop ang relationship namin dito. Maganda ang relationship namin on screen, mahusay siyang artista, and I’m really, really happy to work with him—at siyempre with the rest of the cast,” she said.
For Tanfelix, “Taskforce Firewall” marks his first foray into a more demanding, hard-action drama—something he readily embraced.
“Para sa akin, ang challenge is first time kong mag-hard action-drama, pero ready naman akong magpaka-pagod sa set. Andiyan naman ang guidance nila Direk Rico Gutierrez, ng stunt team, at ng partner ko na si Kylie. Kumbaga, nababawasan iyong challenge dahil sa support nila,” he shared.
Adding depth and gravitas to the story are some of the industry’s most respected actors. Allen Dizon plays Hernan, a father longing to reconnect with his daughter Isa, while Dominic Ochoa portrays Franco, the director of the PBI who is determined to push the Firewall team to their limits. Glenda Garcia takes on the role of Tita Glo, a nurturing yet practical presence within the agency.
Also joining the cast are Rodjun Cruz, Shayne Sava, Cheska Fausto, Anna Abad Santos, and John Vic De Guzman, with special participation from Yasmien Kurdi, Mark Herras, and Lexi Gonzales.
Blending action, emotion, and timely social relevance, “Taskforce Firewall” aims not only to thrill audiences but also to empower viewers with greater awareness and practical knowledge as they navigate today’s digital dangers.
Kailangan natin matuto. Ang dami nang nangyayaring scams, ang dami ng mga victims—ang savings natin, isang pindot lang nawawala dahil sa mga masasamang loob at napagsasamantalhan tayo.
