The “Project Runway” winner creates timeless bridal looks for herself, her husband and her mother on her special day.
After years of dressing brides for one of the most important days of their lives, Veejay Floresca finally stepped into the role she knows so well: the bride.
The celebrated Filipino-American designer married her longtime partner on Friday, August 14, at Celestine in Brooklyn, New York, marking a deeply personal milestone with an intimate celebration that reflected her love for fashion, family, and timeless style.
At the heart of the occasion was Floresca’s bridal gown, which she designed herself. Rather than follow fleeting trends, she chose to create the classic and elegant look she had long envisioned for her wedding day.
“I have always envisioned myself wearing a beautiful, timeless, and classic gown on my wedding day,” she shared on social media.
Her signature craftsmanship was also evident in the other looks she created for the celebration. Floresca designed a bespoke suit for her husband and an elegant beaded red gown for her mother. She later changed into another creation from her namesake label for the after-party.
The wedding came after a rainy week, making the clear weather on the big day even more meaningful for the designer. Floresca revealed that she had prayed for favorable conditions for the ceremony.
“It was raining that week and I asked God to give us the perfect weather, and He did!” she wrote, calling the celebration “The best day!”
The wedding followed her engagement announcement in January, when she shared photos of herself and her longtime partner on social media.
Floresca’s journey in fashion began in the Philippines, where she was born and raised. She studied fashion design and merchandising at De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde before pursuing graduate studies in fashion at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. She later expanded her bridal expertise at Central Saint Martins in London.
Now based in New York City, Floresca has established herself in made-to-order bridal and eveningwear, often blending contemporary design with influences from her Filipino heritage.
Her international profile grew significantly after she won Season 21 of “Project Runway,” becoming the show’s first Filipino-American and transgender woman champion. Before that milestone, she was a finalist on the inaugural season of “Project Runway Philippines.”
But beyond the titles, accolades and international recognition, her wedding represented something more personal.
After years of creating dream looks for other people’s biggest milestones, #VeejayFloresca finally designed one for herself.
