She cheers BF’s Best Actor win, shares funny trophy story.
Actress Janine Gutierrez opened up about her relationship with Jericho Rosales, saying she is most grateful for his constant presence, especially during difficult times.
“Well, I mean of course, kahit ano naman ang pagdaanan naming isa’t isa, I think one of the things na ipinagpapasalamat ko is andiyan siya palagi. So of course, andoon rin ako para sa kaniya,” she said. “Siyempre walang bibitaw.”
Janine’s family has faced a series of losses in 2025, including her grandmothers Pilita Corales and Nora Aunor (National Artist for Film), as well as her uncle Ricky Davao. Throughout this period, Jericho has been vocal in expressing his support for the actress.
Janine likewise expressed her happiness over Jericho’s Best Actor win for “Quezon” at The Eddys 2026. “Of course, congratulations. I’m so happy for him,” she told reporters.
Although she missed the awards night due to a trip abroad, Janine shared a lighthearted moment about how Jericho broke the news.
“Nasa ibang bansa po ako. Nag-send siya ng picture ng trophy. Wala kasing pangalan sa trophy, so hindi ko alam kung pang Best Picture o Best Director. Sa kaniya na pala iyon,” she recalled with a laugh.
She also reacted to Jericho’s recent acceptance speech, where he described her as his “rock” and thanked her for standing by him.
“I’m grateful kasi hindi niya ako nakakalimutan sa pagpapasalamat niya,” she said.
Beyond her relationship, Janine also spoke about supporting her mother, Lotlot de Leon, amid the family’s ongoing inheritance issue following Nora Aunor’s passing.
“Siyempre gusto ko lang po ibigay ang suporta sa mommy ko… Palagi ko lang po ipinapaalala na lagi lang akong andito sa likod niya,” she said.
She added that her main prayer is for her mother’s well-being.
“Whatever is best for my mom, ‘yon lang po ang pinagpe-pray ko. Gusto ko lang na happy siya. Ayokong magkasakit siya dahil sa stress,” she said.
Professionally, Janine is set to return to the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival through the film “Mag-iina,” alongside Cherry Pie Picache, Agot Isidro, Ness Roque, and Jackie Lou Blanco.
She said the project immediately drew her in because of its literary roots.
“Adapted from a play na Palanca winner… talagang magandang Filipino literature,” she shared. “Ang ganda po talaga ng script kaya sinipagan ko talaga. I gave it my best.”
For Janine, the festival remains close to her heart.
“Ang Cinemalaya palaging may kilig for me… parang celebration siya ng Filipino cinema. So happy po ako to be part,” she said.
The 2026 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival will run from August 6 to 16 in participating cinemas across Metro Manila.
