Ice Seguerra to fans: Stop posting full concert videos

For Seguerra, purchasing a concert ticket means paying for the experience of watching the artists perform live, not obtaining permission to reproduce and publicly distribute the show.

“When you buy a concert ticket, you’re buying the experience of watching the show. You are not buying the right to record the whole thing and upload it to your own YouTube page. Hindi po dahil nakabili tayo ng ticket, atin na rin ang concert,” he said.

The singer-songwriter also pointed out that a concert is the result of the collective work of numerous people.

“There are artists, musicians, composers, producers, publishers, crew, and so many people behind every performance. That work is protected, and reposting full songs or entire portions of a concert without permission is not simply ‘sharing.’ It is an unauthorized distribution of someone else’s work,” Seguerra explained.

Despite his concerns, Seguerra clarified that he is not against fans documenting their concert experience.

“Please share your favorite moments. Post your photos. Post short clips. Tell people what you loved about the show. We appreciate all of that. But please don’t upload the concert itself,” he said.

Seguerra then directly appealed to those who had already posted full performances from their shows to remove the videos. “To those who have uploaded full performances from our shows, I’m asking you to please take them down,” he said.

He ended his message with a reminder that supporting artists also means respecting the work that goes into creating a live performance.

“Support the music. Support the artists. Please don’t turn our work into content you never had the right to distribute.”
